Stress

Every once in a while something or someone crosses our path that stresses us out. Sometimes it is something small and sometimes it is large. For me when there is a lot of things going on that I have no control over, it stress me out. Why is it? Is it because I am a control freak? No! Is it because I fear the unknown? Maybe. What if it's neither? What if it's just the thought of all these things at once and I don't have time to processes them? I just put them into a "compartment" in my brain to think about later, and the bigger the importance it is to me, the more room it takes up. Therefore, I get overwhelmed and stressed out.

Everyone has either heard of or has read the book, Men Are Like Waffles, Women Are Like Spaghetti. The book lets all of us know how we men have compartments like a waffle. So, if we the men of earth can find a way to realize that our compartments are full, then we can also realize when we need to take a break. Not a long one, just a 5 minute breather to get in a huddle with God to take a step away from the line of scrimmage. Then, when you break from the huddle and you turn your attention back to the line, you grin to yourself and say,

"Self, you are a man. A man of earth. A man of God. If you want to continue being those things you cannot let yourself be over come with stress just because your compartment is full."

as we strive to live our lives in a way that is pleasing to God and to us we must take time for our huddle even a football game does not last for ever. When the players are not in a game they are training. Lifting weights and getting themselves ready for the next game. In the same way we are not always on the battle field so when we are not "in the game" we need to find and or make the time for "Silence and Solitude" so that we can restock our play book, recharge our energy both psychical and mental, and sort through all the things in our lives that in and of them selves are not stressful but all rolled up in one they can lay heavily on our minds.

Finale take time this week to take a couple of minutes to get a deep breath to pray to God and poor out all the things that we as men of earth have a tendency to keep stored up in us until we reach the breaking point.

God bless
Anthony
